Hassel Island Tour

After meeting at the Historical Trust’s museum on Raadet’s Gade you will be picked up by boat on the waterfront of Charlotte Amalie Harbor and taken on a short boat ride to Hassel Island, located at the western edge of the harbor.

Once a peninsula of Saint Thomas named “Orkanhullet,” this historic 135-acre property is maintained by the National Park Service and the St. Thomas Historical Trust.

As a result of hurricane damage from the 2017 hurricanes Irma and Maria, complete tours are not currently available. We do offer a tour of 3 major sites which reflect the early Danish and British colonial history- the Garrison House, Prince Frederick’s Battery at sea level and Cowell’s Battery and the Signal Station, the highest point on Hassel Island, 267 feet above sea level.

Hiking trails are a moderate 3 on a scale of 5. Good walking shoes are a must; bring plenty of water and sunscreen. Tour lasts approximately 2 to 3 hours. Cost is $75 per person, minimum 2, maximum 8.

We run regular Hassel Island Tours on Saturdays. Contact us to request alternate days.
